just wondering how long people have been doing crossfit?

Hello and welcome.

Around 18 months for me with the team here I think.
Did 'CrossFit' stuff for about 6 months before but only really started applying intensity when I came to CF Reading. All good fun.

thanks for all the replies guys!
i'm about 9 months in, although the first 3 months i was coming back from a long lay off so was scaling heavily.
makes me feel a bit happier about my position with regards to progress etc.

problem is it's too easy to be complacent when nobody else is available to compare to, i have not yet failed to PR in any workout either regardless of how i feel on the day, diet etc so keeping keen is kinda hard when it feels like i'll PR regardless.
strange complaint but there you go :D

think group environment would improve my intensity and results a lot, we do intend to come over at some point. specially now that pat and claire have started working out with you guys :)

Andy- no worries about delay, i forgot you were going on holiday when i initially emailed about that.

eddie - understand your complaint. all i would say is "back yourself a bit more". what i mean is, you are pr everytime which is fantastic. what that says to me is though is that you could have gone heavier the last time you did the exercise and you are possibly being a bit to conservative. Please don't take that comment in the wrong way bud but what i mean is it's ok to fail as long as you have pushed as hard as you can. I say it all the time, unless you fail you will never know your limits and what you need to do to improve.

Say you are doing 5 sets of squats. try by set 3 or 4 to go heavy. if you miss the lift so be it, drop the weight slightly and go again.

I haven't seen you train bud and this is by no means meant to be judgemental. Just how i persoanlly see it.

thanks andy. i am worried about failing on things like squats/ohead/front whatever version but this is mainly due to no squat racks.
i've failed on deadlifts before but normally after setting a new PR and feeling i could've done a bit more so trying again with +5kgs on or something!
the lack of racks is something we really need to sort out, got to decide whether it is better to kit our garage with a rack and weights for home use or move gym.

Are you able to dump weights in your gym? If so, learn how to dump the weights and get going man.
