7.5.08 Another gorgeous morning, just right for some self-torture outside in the form of ICT#2 from Ross' "Never Gymless": 10 med ball woodchoppers 15 med ball slams 10 burpees 8 rounds with 6kg med ball 13 minutes 02 seconds, a PB by 43 seconds.
Notes: For those who don't have Ross' stuff: Med Ball woodchoppers - squat down with a med ball held on the ground between your feet. Explode upwards into the air while bringing the med ball up above your head. Rinse, lather, repeat. Didn't realise quite how much damage I'd done to my legs with those KB snatches yesterday until they seized up at the end of round 3 this morning! That was hellish.

8.5.08 Rest day 9.5.08 Got my first exam out of the way this morning (just another 8 to go!), so plenty of nervous energy to get outside and have my proper go at "Nasty Girls:" 50 squats 7 muscle-ups 10 cleans @ 60kg 3 rounds for time 12 minutes 50 seconds Finished with 4 sets of 5 standing wheel rollouts. Notes: done this before with horizontal muscle-ups and a lighter weight on the cleans. Nice to be able to drop the bar when I needed to, but we have a few new divots in the lawn now!

Think I got on OK - 1 answer was very good, one was quite good, one was fairly crap but at least had some good info among the waffle. Got another 12 days of this nonsense, but I finish the day of the Champions League Final, so pub for me that night.

10.5.08 Out in the sun again for this little Gym Jones number: 50-40-30-20-10 Wall ball Med ball slams 13 minutes 9 seconds, beating my previous go at this by over a minute.

11.5.08 Out in the shed early this morning for a rare (for me) strength session: A1: weighted chinups: 5 @ 15kg, 3 @ 20, 3 @ 25, 1 @ 30, 1 @ 35 (equals my PB, and is 50% of BW ) A2 :weighted dips: 5 @ 15kg, 3 @ 20, 3 @ 25, 1 @ 30, 1 @ 35 (equals my PB, and is 50% of BW ) B: Clean & front squat: 5 @ 50kg, 3 @ 60, 1 @ 70 (=BW) C: Getups: 1 each side @ 24kg KB, 1 each side @ 32kg KB Notes: not done strength work in months, so good to equal some PBs - think I could have gone a little higher with the chinups, but ran out of room on the DB. Time to buy a belt methinks. Never done front squats before - nice to get BW. Getups were not PB, but were the first time I've managed it with that KB. Good session all in - off to see Iron Man later.

12.5.08 After yesterday's weighted stuff, got to Crossfit Reading this evening to find that Andy had a nasty little surprise for us - "Angie:" 100 pullups 100 pushups 100 situps 100 squats For time - 22 minutes 40 seconds. That takes nearly 4 minutes off my PB Finished with some sandbag burpee-throwing. Wrecked now.

13.5.08 Upper body is very sore today, so time for some running intervals in the form of (scaled) "Nancy:" 400 metre run 15 overhead squats @ 20kg 5 rounds for time 12 minutes 31 seconds
Notes: not really done much O/H squatting before, so was pretty conservative in my choice of weight. Slightly worryingly I felt some tingling & numbness in my right hand as soon as I had completed the workout, which is still there half an hour later - I hope it was where I was gripping the bar, but if anyone's got any suggestions, they'd be gratefully received. Good workout though, like that one.

Cheers mate - hand seems fine now. Some guys on other boards have suggested it might be lack of blood to the hand after the runs. Seems plausible, although slightly odd that it's only one hand. 14.5.08 Rest day 15.5.08 Some simple conditioning work this morning courtesy of Ross, from "Full Throttle Conditioning": 10 burpees 10 med ball (7kg) slams 10 rounds 11 minutes 11 seconds - takes 1:20 off my last go at this in February. Finished off with some L-sits: nothing to write home bout.
