Couldn't make it to the box today, so squeezed off a quick...
Squat 1RM test - failed on 115kg. Bugger. Current PB stays at 110kg. Bench press 3x5 @ 80kg Chin ups 3x5 10, 6, 5 (90s rest between sets)
Not too much progress on any of these. Will keep plugging away.

4 May 2011Crossfit ReadingStrength C&J working up to 70kg x 2. No problem at all - really enjoying the cleans at the moment (coughlosercough). WOD - Fight Gone Under * Double unders * SDHP @ 37.5kg * Box jumps @ 20" * Push press @ 37.5kg (though it had been dropped to 30kg for the last two rounds) * Wall balls 10kg @ 10ft * 1 minute rest 5 rounds AMRAP: 122, 105, 100, 92, 105 = 524 (averaged 105/round) Pretty pleased with that. Even if doing DUs instead of the C2 felt like cheating

Mate you still looked like you were working hard with the DUs! By the way - Cleans looked NICE!

Wasn't going to train today, but ended up doing...
Front squat (arse to grass) 1RM test - failed on 95kg. Hit 90kg (previous 1RM was also 90kg, but that wasn't A2G). Looks promising for cleans...
Bench press 1RM test - hit a new PB @ 95kg (previous 1RM was 92.5kg). Now benching more than bodyweight (just).
Alternate grip chins 1xf to finish

Cleans 1RM: 60, 70, 80, failed on 90kg (PB stays at 85kg) Deadlift 1RM: 90, 110, 130, failed on 145kg (PB stays at 140kg... though at least got 145kg off the floor this time) Vertical rows 3x5 @ 45kg (want to work on the pull to give me enough time to get under the bar in the cleans)

Yo Have you though about doing clean pulls instead? I've read bad things about vertical rows. Seen this vid? www.cathletics.com/exercises/exercise.php?exerciseID=98You may well be aware of it but if not check www.cathletics.com/ for all things Oly Lifting.. Thong hooked me up to it.

feeno haha, good timing! I was doublechecking the proper name for vertical rows, and saw that they're called a "controversial exercise" now. (Think that's primarily for people with gammy shoulders, but either way...) Liking the look of the clean pull. Will definitely be working on that one. 90kg in the clean just seems so f***ing heavy! Thanks for the link - will check out their other videos!

Sticking point is definitely the pull-ups, then the running. Will work on a little kipping each session.
