First session 25/10/11: Decided to try out CrossBox, and it was awesome!! Alex took us through the basics with some 2 minute exercises at the end, finishing with a WOD of 3x 15 KB (12 kg) swings and 15 jumps on the tyre (no idea what they're called!) for time. Managed 3:47, which Alex said was quite good (though I'm sure he was just being nice!). Looking forward to Friday and my first proper CrossFit workout See you all there!

28/10/11: First CrossFit training session. Did 1RM for the first time - as Paul was finishing his squats when I arrived, decided to stick with squats (oh how I love the unpredictability of CrossFit!) After warming up and building up, managed to get up to 100 kg. Think I could've squeezed 2.5 or 5 more, but it was already time for the WOD! 5x 90 skips (working on my DU's) and 15 pull-up burpees. 16:33. Thanks Paul and Kevin for the moral support at the end, definitely brought down the time by half a minute or so!! A v. good session

29/10/11 Technique practice and deadlift 1RM. Shoulder was aching so didn't dare go high on snatch and clean. 35 kg snatch and 50 kg clean (first time, so PB's! hehe). Deadlift 107.5 kg (PB). A good session

Nice work mate. Did you mean kipping pullups? :? yeah probably lol. It's hard enough having to do all these new exercises, but to learn all the new jargon as well! haha

That's one of the best things about Crossfit, the exposure to new things that might bot be part of mainstream fitness culture.

02/11/11
Warm up: 3x 30 DU's, 10 lunges and 10 squats holding on the sitting position for 10 seconds with shins vertical.
Hang Power cleans: 4x5 40kg 1x5 50 kg (worked on form rather than weight, thanks Kevin!).
Pistols: Funnest part of the workout! Basically 1 legged squats, hips below knees. Practised on a stool, a couple of 2.5 kg weights and on the floor, 5x each leg.
WoD: 5x 1 min each of rowing (cals), push presses (12 kg KB's) and ring press-ups with 30 second break each set. 43, 36, 34, 33, 43. Great fun, as always! Got a few days off as I'm going to London this weekend, so back on Sunday for some clean/snatch practice.

Yo. Snatch and clean and jerk numbers are good. Think mine were about the same when I started. You might want to start with the snatch though. That way the snatch acts as a warm up for the clean. If you start with the clean you end up battered by the time you get to the snatch. It's also how they do it in competition.

Yeah I did think about the order when I was doing them. I figured since the clean is heavier, I should start with that, otherwise the snatch will tire you out? When I work out I usually do a reverse pyramid, so probably why I thought that. Maybe mix and match the order to keep your body guessing? At this stage I don't think it matters too much since I'm just learning the technique and proper form! hehe

09/11/11
Warm up: 2x 30 DUs, 10 squats, 10 press ups
Snatch 1 RM: 1x 30, 40, 45 kg. 1x F and 2x 50 kg.
WoD: 20 s on 10 s off 8x at each station: 10 kg wall ball, 35 kg high pull, box jumps, 20 kg push press and calorie row. Total reps: 250.
Good workout! Had to use the lighter push press (other was 35 kg) because I could barely lift the thing by the time I got to that station!
