So, it's 2010. New year always bring the diets, rush to the gym to sign up on the attractive membership option and a list of goals as long as your arm.
Studies have found that making too many goals means you will fail at all of them. It's much more productive to pick realistic goals, reach them and then make some more as you go along.
List 3 realistic training goals. Don't worry about the weight or inch loss goals, they will come as a by product of good nutrition and hard and consistant training.
As a rule I don't make goals other than to just improve on lifts, get quicker on met cons and try and stay free from illness and injury. However, here are three I can think of for now.
Sub 4 minute Fran 220kg deadlift 80kg press oh and i'll also put down a sub 22 minute 5k currently at 23.10
Lets make this an ongoing list. Come back and cross off the ones you have done and write another.
Good luck guys

I'm with Coach about goals generally, I go along the lines of "harder, faster, stronger, healthier and injury- and illness-free." But for this, I'll bite; in no particular order: sub-6 Fran (currently 7:12) 70kg press (currently 61kg, a tall order this one) 110kg back squat (currently at 100kg, and I suck at this lift generally). Also wouldn't object to sub-5 minutes on the 30 muscle-ups WOD - currently sitting at 5:43 on this one. Right now I'm concentrating on getting the squat up, since I started to use this routine last year, but then got injured. For the rest of the goals (all any others), I'm not going to train specifically for them, just go with the "constantly varied" and see how I fare. Look forward to seeing everyone else's goals.

ok i'll bite! 200kg deadlift (current 140 for 5 reps) 125kg bench press(current best 5 with 100 or 3 with 105) 150kg back squat (assumes i manage to join gym with squat rack now that i have found one)(erm 20 reps with 65)
not too concerned over weight but i'd like to be 100kg ideally.
not hitting metcons atm but i got a truck tire for xmas(yay!) and am going to utilise that in my weekend workouts to make some short sharp brutal workouts
(edited to add current as tick did and it makes sense)

Primary goals will be based on the heavy lifts and Oly lifts:
2010 Goals (Current PB) Back Squat 130kgs – 170%BW (115kg) Dead lift 170kgs - 225%BW (150kg) Press >75kgs – BW (Current 65kgs)
Clean and Jerk >90kgs (75kgs, 82.5kg Clean, 85kg PJ) Snatch >65kgs (52.5kgs)
Secondary goals: Improve on met cons that I have times for, 10% improvements would be nice…but not going to train specifically to improve them.
Training will be 3 sessions of heavy lifts and at least 2 met cons a week over 4-5 days, of 3on1off, 2on1off depending how the body’s feeling.
Bring it on!

I'm really going for the Harder Faster Stronger thing....
Kipping - it would be awesome if i could get up to 10 kips to be able to give Cindy a go would be FAB 85kg on my Deadlift(have done 1 Rep max 80 on Sumo) BW on HPC/Thrusters (currantly on 40/42.5)
And then theres the BW thing...which i must say is improving I'm presently on 53kilos(on a good day) would like a few more.
Here to a Progressive 2010 duuuuuuudes ;D

Here to a Progressive 2010 duuuuuuudes ;D Yes Obviously i want to be lifting heavier.. a 5-10kg increase across the board would be fine. More important to me would be an improvement with BW movements and upper body strength. I want to be able to do 10+ consecutive pull-ups. I want to be able to complete the 30 muscle-ups for time WOD (I can't actually do a muscle up yet), and improve my sprinting times...be a bit more lighter on my feet. I want to be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
