Saturday - WOD #2
The atmosphere was on FIRE on Saturday - lots of us were doing the second Games WOD and we were all fired up. I was in the first heat - I wanted to get it out of the way! I knew the pushups were going to be a challenge - having to pull your hands up once your chest reachest the floor takes all the omph out of your pushup!
The timer started and off we went! I tell you, after four rounds I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish many more, but eight rounds, nine deadlifts later I was a pile of useless flesh on the floor. It was AWESOME. I was shooting for eight rounds (that was my optimistic goal) and I surpassed it! It boosted me right up in the reginal rankings too (making up for my crap double-under performance).
Bring on next week's WOD!!

Monday Torture
I walked into the Box this afternoon and stared at the board in disbelief - for some reason I was struggling to comprehend the 100DU, 50 situps, 50walking lunges, 50 situps, 50 tuck jumps, 50 situps, 50 burpees, 50 situps, 100DU WOD.
The urge to turn around and go home was overcome and we started with some handstand pushup (or just handstand) practice which was fun - I've never been good upside down so it was a good bit of comfort zone pushing. Then the WOD...dun dun duuuun!!!!
22 minutes and 8 seconds later I was really glad to have done the darn thing. I will admit that I scaled the DU's and only did 50 but then did 150 singles to make up the rest. PHEW.
My abs are a little sore today...

WOD #3 - this one really threw me for a loop - had to really work hard to readjust my perspective after this one.
I must have lifted the bar about 20 times, but only managed to get three rounds of the clean at jerk at 50kg. I was bitterly disappointed and frustrated with this - I was cleaning it up to my chest but struggled to get under it - not because I can't - I consider this one of my favourite lifts - but mentally, haivng not lifted 50kg before, I think I psyched myself out. I need to get back on it and try again. Friday morning update will hopefully show that I got out of my mental funk and sorted this bad boy out!
Wish me luck....

Good luck Katie! It's all technique, I'm sure you'll smash it!

You had the height on the bar, just need the speed to get under it.. as Andy used to say "Trust yourself"

oh man it's been AGES since I last posted my training log. My Mom has been visiting so I haven't been at the box since Friday when we did an awesome Crossbox session. Since then I have been stuck working out in a bloody hotel gym on the eliptical trainer and treadmill - BORING! Went into the box this morning to do the fourth games WOD - managed the burpees no problem but struggled with the weight of the overhead squat - to be fair, I've not really done them before, so I'm not going to beat myself up about it - just focus on it in my training and know that I can smash it the next time it comes up Bring on the next wod! they are getting tricky now... Oh yeah, I'll be running a 10km trail race tomorrow, and then back at the box Monday night for the usual WOD session (with my mother in tow).

Endurancelife Coastal Trail Series - Exmoor - it actually ended up being 11.4km instead of 10! Three seriously steep hills to go up and I had a great time! It was awesome Did it in 1:30 which was just about the average time for female finshers considering I don't run, Im pretty happy with that!
