the distance walk was amusing, my son was recording and thought i'd be a bit slower today 19/04/2010 shoulder press 72.5kgs 3-3-3-3-1-1-1-2-2-1-1-1-1-1 squat 105kgs 5-5-5-5-5 squats much smoother now, felt better about adding weight to the bar today pullups supersetted with dips 3-3 due to the press taking so much time i had to leave hurriedly to get to work on time!

decided to deload my bench press to focus on form for a few sessions and work back up bench press 100kgs 5-5-5-5-5 deadlift 160kgs 4-4-4-4-4-4 then did some dips for tricep strength 10-10 with only one minute between. surprised by that as i did not do much more than 15 or so previously when regularly doing them and weighing much less
torn grip now due to deads...might need chalk

strongman workout in the am did these as a circuit, one minute rest between each exercise distance walk up alley tyre +40kgs so 115-120kgs walk back down the alley tyre stone lifts going to do 10 but did 7 then 5 as these just do not get any easier bollard lifts 10 reps tree press 10 reps rest two minutes and then repeat so i increased reps from 5 for most except tyre stone and also reduced rest down to one minute, getting some improvement there then. i then did the distance walk there and back with 2 mins rest as my grip still fooked from the 160kgs 6x4 the other day then i made use of the heavy rope i got from b&q to do some tyre drags for a while to work both upper back and also grip strength then i tied it to me and tried to drag it like a truck pull, hard work though as uneven floor so it got snagged a lot. then i did tree press again 10 reps each side (see video you'll see what i mean) finished with this metcon using ye olde 20 pace markers pick bollard and run to other side and drop it run back to start and touch floor run back to bollard and repeat intended to do 5 rounds but lost count along with my breath, been a while since i've done anything like this! anyway here's the vid www.youtube.com/watch?v=qODl_u1fCPs

good day at gym today shoulder press 72.5kgs 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 squats 110kgs 5-5-5-5-5 easy enough and smooth felt good pull ups 3-3-3 chin ups 3 shower and change then got home and pulled my big tyre about 100 paces using rope for some grip work inspired by www.phd-supplements.com/forum...highlight=gripi thought this would be forearm and lats with maybe some bicep in there... turned out to be a cardio session too, bathed in sweat, although this could be because of the fact that i'd done a full workout some 15 mins beforehand. i intend to do this at the end of each session from now on, except maybe deadlift sessions...

bench press 105kgs 5-5-5-5-5 deadlift 160kgs 5-5-5-5-5 actually hands are better than after 6x4 which is good. tried with belt on but too tight to get into deadlift position, fine for my strongman stuff. dips with belt on 10-10 few chin ups for some forearm and grip work cable pulley 30kgs 5 reps with each arm then swap arm 4 times total (bit of pulling working)

first lesson of the day: do these kinds of workouts in the am not after work! not a tiring day at work but just not quite as hardcore as usual on this one. 1distance carry 52kgs in tyre so 127-132kgs total 2t-stone lifts 5 reps 3bollard lifts 10 reps 4tree press 15 reps 2 minutes rest between start with 1 twice then one of each of the rest 3 times total round. however did one lap with tyre loaded then the lap back i had to put tyre down, more to do with uneven load than the weight i think after having to put it down once in the next 2 laps i dropped the 12kgs of dumbells and did two laps with just +40kgs in it. at this stage i found my belt was just too tight so have had to loosen it a notch, not sure why as i've not gained noticeable amount of weight and last session it was fine so a bit confused. then carry medley tyre +72kgs tyre stone and bollard times: 48, 48, 29 seconds last one is wrong as i started the bollard lift and carry at 29 so must have caught stopwatch. not too worried about slower times as it makes a huge difference having to do the stopwatch myself. then did a tyre drag with rope, arm over arm, 75-80kgs tyre mostly for grip work but also lats work is significant did one complete length of back alley and then from bottom to my garage. had a quick toilet break and drank some milk then bollard and press workout which i'll probably record some time bollard starts at one side of my 20 pace walkway and tree in the middle, start in the middle(with the stop watch) run to bollard lift it and carry to other side, run to middle then press tree 5 times that is one round i did 4 rounds in 2:19 seconds tired now and will have to sit down and re-work my workout schedules, i did wonder how well i would manage this style of workout after work and then answer is: not well

well it was a learning experience for sure.
shoulder press 72.5kgs 4-4-4-4-4-4 really happy with this as only the very final rep was really hard work
squat 115kgs 5-5-5-5-5 this was much harder though, need to get some coaching on this at some point
pull ups 3-3-3 chin ups 3
dips 10 plus 20kg dumbell 5 hang from pull up bar 30 seconds
think that tyre drag is better than pull ups for lats, forearms and grip work, felt strong doing those today

bench press 110kgs 5-5-5-5-5
deadlifts 170kgs 3-3-3-3-1-1-1 after last rep my lower back felt slightly odd so i stopped there. was intended to be 8x3 but i got new PR so should be happy with that.
dips 10-10-10
one armed pulley with 30kgs did 5 reps with each hand and kept swapping hands no rest for total of 4x5 each hand rested 2 mins and did again for 3x5
did one pull up and lats and biceps were not happy so i stopped there

strongman stuff distance carry tyre kgs up and down path tree right press with 2 tyres in middle 5 reps stone lifts 5 bollard lifts 10 tree press left fail, smashed my facr with tyre, remove tyres and did 5 reps distance carry up and down path stone lift 5 reps bollard lift 10 carry medleys tyre +72kgs tyrestone, bollard: 48, 46, 48 45 seconds shorter ones were downhill tyre drag from top to bottom tried to work a way to attach tyre to self for drag similar to van drag but failed, will try another time tree from floor to overhead 30 reps for time done in 4:41 including dropping tree onto my face may get black eye from this flip carry medley as this www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6fjglRAWY4 but done today in 2 minutes exactly, which frankly amazed me, tyre flips were smooth and easy then bollard and runs www.youtube.com/watch?v=qODl_u1fCPs but done in 1:11 so about 35 seconds faster, very surprised after the cardio sessions above so pretty well chuffed, although my face may not be thanking me in a few days what with crushing face with tyres, dropping a tree on it and all ;D

did something silly the other day and had an armwrestle at work for no real good reason, did this after the shoulder press tree workout which had left my right shoulder a bit sore. this left me in a bit of pain, went to gym anyway for this workout which may have been a mistake. shoulder press 70kg 5-5-5-5-4.5 at the point bar cleared my head the shoulder muscles went numb and lost all power on last set but it was not good throughout. squats 120kgs 5-5 stopped here as the arm position made my shoulder hurt too. did 40 sit ups and 25 back extensions just to do something which my shoulder was not involved in. then did some one armed presses with dumbell 20kgs 7 reps 25kgs 5 reps 30kgs 3 reps side bends with the 30kg dbell 5 each side x 2 did some light dumbell work 2.5kgs bicep curls tricep extensions sets of 10 reps just to get the muscles moving and blood pumping through them. then did some sauna-cold shower work on the muscles too which was horrible but seems to have helped.
no workout now till tuesday so hopefully better by then
