decided rather than do nothing i'd do some pulling to prepare for truck pull. theory was that shoulder would not get worked at all so no problem. put my 72 kgs of free weights and sand filled tubs in an abandoned water butt and gave dragging it a go truck pull style (tied rope to a backpack designed to carry 70+kgs of gear and put that on) 72kgs was too light, when going uphill was a fairly easy cardio session but going downhill it was more like walking into a stiff breeze. so i added the bollard to the butt making it 126kgs did one pull from garage to top of alley good hard work and shoulder fine, went back down same again although easier. back to top again, on way back down on hitting a bump the bollard being tall and lots of weight at top of butt see pic www.teignbridge.gov.uk/media/...arge_image.jpgcaused it to fall over, managed to right it again tyre lifting style and went again, it fell over again this time i decided against just righting it again, worried about destroying new workout toy so removed bollard. unfortunately this has caused my shoulder pain so am now slapping on a freeze patch. won't be using that again although i will repeat the dragging in this method when i would normally do a workout, just need to get someone else to help me load it up and find 55kgs minimum of broken paving slabs from my garden. plenty of them about (i will otherwise rest shoulder)

did some more dragging water butt stuff, started with the intention of pulling it for ten lengths all timed but turns out the last sessions have disrupted the gravel and pulled loads of it loose making this harder now than before.
basically it gets caught up between the butt and jutting tarmac making it get stuck which is very frustrating. need to either get a trailer or take my stuff to a car park somewhere, longterm the former but next time i may find somewhere to do this in a park or similar
also this is very tiring too

well i'm not going to be competing 5th june. the actual injury is not a major one but i cannot do any pressing work at all for at least 2 and preferably 3 weeks. www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/shoulder/supraspininflam.htmbasically i've injured this muscle and it has pinched the nerve leading down my arm to my hand on the right arm. this also explains the forearm pain/tightness and bicep numbness. should be good to go back to training in a few weeks but a contest in 2 weeks is a no go :-( i have not yet decided whether i will turn up for the experience anyway, i'd like to but work is very busy in the first week of each month (and i'm on commission) so will have to decide. ion saw the new blog showing the new box, looks awesome!!

back from physio he did some excruciating work on my shoulder, really really painful deep tissue massage...
reckons i can start working out in a week gently on the shoulder, so shoulder press machine for 10kgs
then move up 10kgs per session, moving to free barbell once i've done 20kg on machine and then ease the weight up 10kgs per session.
so will do full body workouts for 2 weeks alternate days should bring me close to where i was starting deadlifts at 60kgs and squats same, probably 20kgs which is empty bar for bench and pull downs using 40-50kgs.
no strongman stuff but will ease back into that soon once strength is where i want it to be

back to gym today everything done as 5 sets of 10
shoulder machine press 10kgs squats 40kg bench press 20kg deadlift 60kg wide pull downs 15kg close grip pull downs 25kg tricep push downs 15kg 20 reps then left
aim is to add 10kg per session, will drop reps to 5 by a gradual descending order so 10 next session, 8 after that for 2 sessions and 5 after that ongoing actually think the shoulder press machine is weird, it kind of forces you to lift from behind the head which is not the way you would ever press any real-world item(ie not a barbell)
had a bit of soreness afterwards but i think this is likely from the machine as i'm not used to pressing in that position...will email therapist to make sure okay to continue anyway
